Privacy Policy
Effective date: July 7th, 2026
Selfease is built to keep your reflections private. In this version of the app, everything you say and record in a session stays on your device.
In plain language
- Everything you say and record in a session stays on your device.
- We do not collect, transmit, or store your reflections, audio, or personal data on any server.
- We do not require an account.
- We do not use analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs.
- Audio is processed on your device for speech recognition and is not saved as recordings.
- You can delete all your data at any time from within the app.
Information we collect
Content you create — your session notes, the parts you map, and related text — is stored locally in an on-device database. This never leaves your device and is not accessible to us. The app uses your microphone so you can speak during a session; speech is converted to text using your device’s built-in speech-recognition capabilities, handled by your operating system (Apple or Google) under their own privacy policies. Selfease does not receive, store, or transmit audio recordings. We do not collect your name, email, location, contacts, tracking identifiers, or advertising IDs.
How your information is used
Locally stored content is used solely to provide the app’s features on your device — for example, to show your saved parts and session history. Because it stays on your device, we do not access, analyze, or share it.
Data sharing
We do not share, sell, or transfer your personal information to third parties, because we do not collect it. No data is sent to us or to any advertiser or data broker.
Third-party services
Voice-to-text may be processed by your device’s operating-system speech services (Apple or Google). Review their privacy policies for how your device handles that processing.
Data retention and deletion
Your data remains on your device until you delete it. You can erase all app data at any time via Settings → Delete all data, or by uninstalling the app. We hold no server-side copy to delete because we store none.
Children’s privacy
Selfease is intended for adult self-reflection and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Security
Because your data stays on your device, its security depends primarily on your device’s own protections (passcode, encryption). We recommend using your device’s built-in security features.
Your rights
Depending on your jurisdiction (e.g., GDPR in the EU/UK, CCPA in California), you may have rights over personal data. Since Selfease stores your data only on your device and we hold no copy, you exercise these rights directly by viewing, editing, or deleting your data within the app.
Medical disclaimer
Selfease is a self-reflection and wellness tool. It is not therapy, medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment, and is not a substitute for care from a qualified professional. If you are in crisis, contact local emergency services or a crisis line.
Changes to this policy
If we change how the app handles data — especially if a future version collects or transmits any data — we will update this policy and the effective date, and reflect the change in the app’s store data-safety section before that version is released.
